Leave the world better than we found it.

A Good Cause LLC was created as a community-positive response to the constant exposure to negativity and the overwhelming amount of things happening in the world that can leave people feeling helpless.

No one should have to face that “the world is ending and there’s nothing I can do” feeling alone.

We believe meaningful change can start small and it can start local, here in San Antonio.

Through Art Nights, we create welcoming third spaces where adults can step away from screens and consumption, explore their creativity, and build genuine connections in an environment that is calmer and more accessible than traditional nightlife.

Through after-school programs, we hope to keep creativity and the arts a priority for San Antonio’s children while creating meaningful, fairly compensated opportunities for educators.

Through nature after-school programs, we want to help the next generation develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. From sustainability and conservation to nurturing a love for plants, animals, and the places we call home.

Finally through community volunteer opportunities, we want to turn that desire to help into tangible action. Litter cleanups, Little Free Libraries, community gardens, neighborhood projects, and countless other possibilities to give people a way to contribute directly to their community.

A Good Cause is about creating opportunities to connect, create, teach, volunteer, and make a difference. Starting locally and growing together.

Meet the Founder

Hi! I’m River!

I’m 24 years old as of the time of forming A Good Cause LLC, a psychology student, and an aspiring art therapist. After years of navigating my own mental health challenges, I created A Good Cause in response to issues I once faced alone only to discover that so many other people felt the same way.

Growing up as an autistic individual, socializing has often been difficult for me, and I’ve experienced firsthand how isolating it can feel to struggle to find meaningful connections. With loneliness on the rise, I wanted to create opportunities for people to come together in ways that feel welcoming, creative, and accessible. That’s where Art Nights began! A chance for adults to have a third space where they can create, connect, and meet new people without the pressure of loud music, overstimulating environments, or simply staying home to doom scroll alone.

I’ve also spent about a decade working with children and serving as an educator in some capacity. One of my biggest goals for A Good Cause is to eventually create successful after-school programs that continue to serve the children of San Antonio while providing living wages to the people doing the teaching.

And, as someone who lives on this planet, I’m pretty passionate about keeping it clean and, ideally, keeping it alive! I’m excited to create meaningful volunteer opportunities that start locally and grow alongside our community. From litter cleanups and community gardens to Little Free Libraries and environmental education, I want A Good Cause to help people turn that feeling of “the world is falling apart and there’s nothing I can do” into “I can do something, and I don’t have to do it alone.”

A Good Cause is about starting small, starting local, and building something positive together.

I hope to meet all the like-minded people who want to create a better community, make new connections, get creative, help others, and leave the world a little better than we found it.
